Embention keeps working continuously to be at the top of drones and UAVs, achieving improvements every day in both autopilots and communications between them. As we have already commented in other occasions about UAV BLOS via satellite. Veronte is already capable of performing UAV BLOS (Beyond Line-Of-Sight) operations all over the world via satellite communications.
Our software worked with the architecture that can be seen below:
Communications between an aerial platform and a ground station can be done by radio, in case they are in line of sight, through the 4G module using our cloud in case there is coverage and in case there is no coverage at all, such as in oceans, deserts, etc., they can communicate via Iridium.
In the latter case, both the aerial platform and the ground station would have to have an Iridium module to be able to communicate with each other. The main problem in this type of communication and in this old architecture is that the price of each message through this system is expensive.
Thanks to the new architecture created by our developers, it has been possible to have complete visibility of the UAV 100% of the time, reducing costs.
As before, communications can be done via radio, 4G or Iridium depending on the distance between the platforms or the coverage of the aerial platform at that moment.
The difference, as can be seen in the image above, is that Veronte will now be able to communicate with a ground station with a single Iridium module. The aerial platform will communicate through its Iridium with our cloud and as if it were a 4G, it will divert the traffic to the ground station.
In this way we will be able to see Veronte while it crosses the ocean or any area that does not have 4G coverage and we will also be able to send it any kind of order, such as changing to any flight phase or sending it a command like “Go to” or to stay in that area doing a loiter.
