Veronte Autopilot is the first commercial autopilot for drones, UAS and RPAS compliant with aeronautical regulations DO254 & DO178 / ED-12, providing design evidences for UAV certification. With a Design Assurance Level B (Dal B), it accomplishes with most demanding requirements from Civil Aviation Authorities (FAA, EASA, AESA, ENAC, DGAC, LBA, CAA,…) and main regulations in sector (STANAG 4703, JARUS, Experimental Certificates,…), ready for UAV certification.
DO-178B / ED-12, Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification, is a standard for software development in the field of critical system for aviation. This standard has been used on onboard Veronte software development for both, design and testing. A wide range of tests have been performed for ensuring the system reliability, following the procedures for aviation software approval.
Certification under DO-254 (Design Assurance Guidance For Airborne Electronic Hardware), is a standard comparable to DO-178 / ED-12 for software but at hardware level, both applying to UAV certification. DO-254 compliance certifies that avionics have been designed and tested according to the criticality level required for the operation.
There is a UAV certification package for Veronte Autopilot that can be provided together with the system for proving system reliability to the Civil Aviation authorities in order to obtain a UAV system certification. This documentation is used for tracing system safety requirements up to the autopilot design specifications in order to obtain a type certificate for the RPAS system.
Veronte Autopilot DDP (Declaration of Design and Performance) is usually enough for proving system reliability to the authorities but it may also be required some support during the certification procedure. Veronte Autopilot can also be provided in dual and triple redundant configurations and is fully compatible with redundant system configurations and any safety equipment (transponder, redundant servos or control surfaces, sense and avoid, Lidar, obstacle detection,…) in order to increase system reliability for specific requirements.
