Industrial operations are progressing around the world, thanks to state of the art technology. Many businesses are leaning towards the adoption of autonomous technologies, like drones. For this reason, Embention has decided to announce its participation as a new member of the Drone Logistics Ecosystem, an association of companies dedicated to the advancement of drone technology and development of regulation.

Embention is a high-tech innovation-driven company, developing hardware and software solutions for the Advanced Air Mobility industry as well as autonomous systems for civil and military applications. AirGo and Embention collaborate on the development of lightweight standardized drone components for the industry, which can help increase the payload maximum weight and flight range of the drones.

Drones in logistics

There are many ways UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) can be used in society. The use of drones in the logistics sector is very advantageous, enabling a wide range of applications.

They can be put-to-use in the transportation or delivery of customer purchases, which is a great solution for urban areas with heavy traffic congestion. As well as pallet scanning within distribution centers, enabling the operations team to view inventory stored at the facility, as well as search for lost merchandise in hard-to-reach spaces. Joint with security surveillance of large areas for logistics such as warehouses and factories. In addition, drones allow us to reach areas that cannot be accessed by other modes of transport. This way, it is possible to expand the radius of action of the companies that make the shipments. These vehicles are also very useful in emergency situations when rapid transport of medical and relief packages to remote areas is needed. To date, many delivery tests have been carried out focused on medical supplies.

In summary, the application of drones in logistics means a reduction in distribution costs and faster deliveries. In addition to having high benefits for the environment thanks to reductions in urban traffic and therefore, in CO2 emissions.

Drone Logistics Ecosystem (DLE) is a free, global multidisciplinary “quadruple helix” network of Companies, Universities, Public/Government, and Investors to stimulate innovations, collaborations, and standardisations in the drone logistics industry. The aim of the Drone Logistics Ecosystem is to bring together stakeholders in the drone logistics industry under one roof to support commercialisation and marketing of products of Drone Logistics members.

Embention’s CEO David Benavente said,

“Logistics is one of the main drone applications that will permit us to see drones flying daily over our heads, joining the Drone Logistics Ecosystem is a great opportunity to consolidate Embention’s leadership within this segment.”
