Differential Mode

This mode is used to send GPS corrections from Veronte Ground to Veronte Air, enabling Veronte Air compute its position relative to the reference with hight accuracy. On the other hand, it is also possible to use this precise positioning trough NTRIP (Networ1ked Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol) protocol, using Intenet connection, more information below.

It’s necessary to configure the stationary reference station and the RTCM stream correction. To configure this mode, user should use the assistant of configuration.

  1. Connect Air and Ground  Units.
  2. Click on the notification Air and base Veronte required.
  3. Click on Solve.
  4. Select Base or Air for each unit.
  5. Verify changes in each configuration.

RTCM performance can be monitored by using the following system variables.

  • DGPS Navigation off: This variable is active when differential data is being used in the navigation.
  • DGPS input off: This variable is active when differential data is being received in the PC.
  • GPS accuracy: Shows GPS signal precision.

These can be shown on the Workspace.

NTRIP

RTCM functionality provides precise positioning trough NTRIP (Networked Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol). This protocol is a standard for streaming differential GPS (DGPS) data over the Internet.

Registration

RTCM activation requires from a previous registration in one of the NTRIP stream providers available. Select the stream provider according to the location of your operation. Some examples of NTRIP providers are IGS.IP or EUREF.

Once registered, you will receive the following data from the NTRIP provider: URL, Port, User, Password

Configuration

In order to activate precise positioning functionality in Veronte, NTRIP user data must be loaded in Veronte Autopilot. Go to the setup menu in the Veronte Autopilot unit  (Setup / Veronte Autopilot / Devices / Sensors / GPS / Configuration) and follow these steps:

  • Enable NTRIP
  • Enter NTRIP server data and user as follows

RTCM1

  • Click on  Lupa for connecting to the server
  • From the displayed list select the desired stream and click on select

RTCM2

Notes:

  • The system is compatible with RTCM protocol 2.3. Compatible streams are marked with Check. It is recommended to select a virtual stream covering the area of operation.
  • RTCM positioning requires  an internet connection.

System Variables

RTCM performance can be monitored by using the following system variables:

  • DGPS Navigation off: This variable is active when NTRIP data is being used in the navigation.
  • DGPS input off: This variable is active when NTRIP data is being received in the PC.
  • GPS accuracy: Shows GPS signal precision.
