Veronte Cannot Initialize

Once Veronte Pipe is started, both units are shown on the right bar but they do not initialize. This is due to an incorrect network adapter setting. To solve it:

  1. Go to control panel – Network – Change adapter settings.
  2. Select your network adapter, right click – Properties.
  3. Select TCP/IPv4 – Properties – Advanced options.
  4. Under IP addresses, add the following:
    1. IP Address: 192.168.0. X  (X can be any number available in your network) | Subnet Mask:
    2. IP Address: 192.168.137. X (X can be any number available in your network) | Subnet Mask:
  5. Close and save.

Veronte units in version 2.1.x or below requires an IP address of the form 192.168.137.X and from version 2.1.X onwards, Veronte requires an IP address of the form 192.168.0.X. Following the aforementioned steps, your PC will add both of them.


Terrain Height – Server down

The Terrain Altitude server for the great part of the Earth zones, excepting Iceland, has changed the URL link. Due to this, the older versions of Pipe can not accede to the information. In Veronte Pipe versions newer than 1.8 (included), the entire information about terrain height will be inserted in the Embention server too.

In Veronte Pipe versions newer than the 2.12.5 (excluded), the URL link will be correct automatically, but in the older ones will be necessary to force the data update of the Embention server.

To do this, the user must follow the following path in the file explorer and delete the folder:


For Veronte Pipe versions older than 2.8 (excluded) the path is:

{installing path}\app\data\terrain\srtm\httpsupportembentioncomverontesrtm

In the case Veronte Pipe is installed for the first time in the PC, no actions are needed for versions older than 1.8.


Magnetometer Calibration Error

In some cases, when calibrating the magnetometer, very strange results are obtained or even the process does not work at all. One of the reasons for this to happen is the presence of a magnet near the autopilot (which contains the magnetometer), which causes its saturation.

When trying to calibrate again, the same problem is encountered because the saturated magnetometer is not able to measure properly again.

In order to solve this problem, the sensor full scale has to be changed so the magnetometer is allowed then to measure higher values and it can get out of the saturation state. The “full scale” is changed in the option highlighted in red in the next figure.

Once the full scale has been increased, the calibration process is repeated again.


Altitude Error

When the AGL lectures obtained from telemetry are showing strange results, like a very great value when the UAV is in the ground or even negative ones, the problem can come from different areas and the possible solution will be presented in this section.

Atmosphere Calibration

The atmosphere has to be calibrated according to the current temperature. The calibration options are open directly on Veronte Panel.

The pop-up window contains the atmosphere parameters, which should be varied to match the actual ones.

Terrain Altitude Mesh

Another source of error could be the terrain model, which contains the information about the heights in the mission area. It could happen that the mesh with this data is not located over the mission trajectory, so when having an error in the height measures this option should be checked.

The two meshes are displayed in “Mission/Terrain Profile”, clicking the option show.

Options 2 and 3, make the mesh visible. They can be moved directly by dragging them, so both have to be located over the mission waypoints. To avoid a future error, the option “Auto” (1) will move automatically the meshes to the mission area.


HIL Simulation fails

When HIL Simulation does not work properly, is possible that:

  • Simulation frequency is not well configured. In this case, check the XPlane and VerontePipe frequency as described in section 11.1 of the manual.
  • The aircraft in XPlane is load in a different airport, so be sure of loading it in the correct one.
  • Terrain profile is not correctly positioned: Coarse and Fine zones must be positioned on the mission to have the correct terrain information (see section 8.1).
  • The radio connection is down. Check the radio link (Antenna, Cable).


Telemetry Overflow Error

The telemetry Data Link between Veronte Units (GND-AIR) has a limit on the number of variables that it can transmit. If this number is exceeded, the system will not transmit the last ones added and an error will appear on the sidebar (below the autopilot that has this error).

To solve this problem, delete from the Data Link some variables until the error disappears (visit section 6.7.2 to check how to deal with the telemetry on Veronte Pipe). This problem is not critical to the flight. The operation can be carried out, with the only difference that the last variables added to the Link can not be displayed on the workspace.


Communications Incompatibility

This error appears on the lower part of the sidebar. It means that the variables sent by an autopilot to the other one are not the same as the ones sniffed (“captures”) by the one who is receiving the telemetry.

The software provides a dialogue which solves this problem by selecting which one of the options (telemetry or sniffer) will “take control” over the other one making it having the same variables. Check the sniffer and telemetry link before the operation to make sure that the variables sent and listen are the correct ones (section  6.7 ).


No enough information of terrain height

When the user tries to save a new mission or an edited one, it is possible that a Warning message appears: “The mission does not have enough information of terrain height. Check the internet and retry.”.

It can be solved in two different ways:

  • The problem is the internet connection, check it and re-try.
  • The mission has been saved with no waypoints or routes. In this case, the system does not have information about mission location and it is not able to update terrain information.


License Expired

When Veronte Autopilots start, the license state is always checked. As described in section 6.10, the Veronte license has to be renovated biweekly.

If the license warning is displayed in the right bar (below the autopilot name) as showed in the following figure, it is sufficient a left-click on it and the license panel will show up. The panel is useful to check the following information:

In order to solve the problem, user must check:

  • Internet connection: to renovate the license it is necessary an internet connection.
  • GPS connection: if during the license checking the GPS connection is down, the second check (NAV) will be kept to OFF and the license warning will not disappear.
  • PC date and time: check the date and time settings of the PC. If the date is not correct the system could not be able to check or renovate the license.
